An Nguyen and Abigail Gauld Had a Record Breaking Weekend
In a stunning display of talent and determination, Binh An Nguyen has set an impressive five new records in the Girls 10 & Under Short Course category at the recent Championships. Among these accomplishments, Binh An shattered a longstanding Provincial record in the 100M Breaststroke, clocking in at 1:23.34 and surpassing the previous benchmark set by Bronwyn Beatty in January 1976. Additionally, she improved her own Provincial record in the 50M Breaststroke, achieving a time of 38.45, a significant leap from her October 2025 record of 39.69. Furthermore, Binh An broke two Goldfins Short Course Club Records, including the 200M Breaststroke with a time of 3:05.22, outperforming Leanne Maruk's 1982 record, and the 100M Breaststroke, previously held by Catherine McQueen since 1984.
Moreover, Binh An set a new Goldfins Club record in the 50M Breaststroke earlier this season, posting a time of 39.72 during the Winter Solstice in November 2025. This achievement further cements her status as a formidable athlete in the swimming community.
In a truly inspiring showcase of skill and commitment, Abigail Gauld has broken the long-standing Girls 11-12 Goldfins Short Course 200M Breaststroke Club Record, a milestone that had remained untouched since February 1984, held by Leanne Maruk. Abigail's impressive time of 2:48.87 not only earned her a well-deserved bronze medal but also revitalized the legacy of young swimmers aspiring for greatness.
There swimmers accomplishments' serve as powerful reminders of the strength of perseverance and the emerging potential within the next generation of athletes, illustrating that records are meant to be broken and dreams are meant to be chased.
