Saskatoon Goldfins Dazzle at RODS Winter Solstice Showdown!

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club made waves at the 2025 RODS Winter Solstice swim meet in Regina, Saskatchewan, held on November 29 and 30. With a team of 68 swimmers ranging in age from 8 to 17, the Goldfins competed in a staggering 460 individual events over the weekend. Their efforts were rewarded as they achieved 46 new Junior & Senior Provincial qualifying time standards, marking a significant accomplishment at this fast-paced and festive meet.
Among the standout performances, several swimmers attained the prestigious Swim Saskatchewan AA Provincial Short Course Qualifying Time Standards. Sadie Burrows excelled in the 200 Breaststroke, while Abigail Gauld and Heimarie Strydom showcased their prowess in the 100 Fly and 50 Fly, respectively.

The Goldfins also celebrated over 300 personal best times throughout the weekend. Special congratulations are extended to Ethan Andre, Minau Burrows, Cohen Dickson, Vanessa Godbout, Kyle MacGillivray, Max Magsuci, Rhett Ruzesky, Lyla Shiplack, Matthew Skliar, Will Sothilingam, Jenny Sun, Emily Walton-Bailey, and Wyatt Wang, who each achieved 100% personal best short course times.
In terms of improvement, Hudson St. Amant delivered a remarkable performance with a 37.0% improvement in the 100 Breaststroke and a 32.7% improvement in the 100 Freestyle. Wallis Fisher-Katz also impressed with a 35.4% improvement in the 100 Freestyle.
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club extends its gratitude to the Regina Optimist Dolphins Swim Team for hosting this event. As the club looks ahead, they are set to compete in the upcoming December Championships, including the Ontario Junior International, Prairie Winter International, and J.P. Fiset Invitational from December 11 to 14, 2025.
The Goldfins' recent achievements underscore their commitment to excellence and the diverse talents within their ranks, setting a high standard for future competitions.
