Navigating the Waters: Goldfins Set to Take a Bite Out of the Competition at the 2026 Saskatchewan Junior Provincial Championships

February 25, 2026

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club is primed to make a significant impact at the 2026 Saskatchewan Junior Provincial Championships. Scheduled for February 27 to March 1 in Moose Jaw, SK, this event guarantees an exciting weekend filled with thrilling swims. With 58 Goldfins swimmers participating in 457 individual events and 27 relays, the competition will be as intense as a school of sharks during a feeding frenzy.

Competitors and Events

This open short course swim meet invites female swimmers aged 11 and over, and male swimmers aged 12 and over, who have met the Saskatchewan Junior Provincial qualifying time standards. However, the meet is inclusive of younger athletes—female swimmers aged 7-10 and males aged 7-11—who are encouraged to dive into the waters without the barrier of qualifying times. This diversity offers a sea of opportunities for all levels of swimmers to showcase their abilities.

Coach’s Insights

Emma Melnyk, the coach of the Goldfins White 1 group, is enthusiastic about her team’s participation. Reflecting on the event, she shares:

“The swimmers and I are looking forward to making some big waves at Junior Provincials this year! My group has been focusing on their speed endurance and flip turns in preparation for their 200 free. I am excited for them to showcase their efforts and improvements as we head into the meet. My swimmers are also entered into a new event that they have never competed in and I am excited for them to try something new. I can’t wait to cheer on the rest of the team during their weekend of fun! Go Goldfins!!”
