Goldfins Swim Club Gears Up for Prairie Winter International 2024

The Goldfins Swim Club is excited to announce that 46 of its talented swimmers will be traveling to Winnipeg, Manitoba, to compete in the prestigious Prairie Winter International, scheduled from December 5 to December 8, 2024. This annual December Championship Age Group meet is a significant event on the competitive swimming calendar, offering swimmers the opportunity to showcase their skills and achieve their performance goals.

Exciting New Events

This year's championship will be particularly thrilling, as it introduces new events designed to enhance the competition's intensity and excitement. Swimmers will now have the chance to compete in the 50M Butterfly, 50M Backstroke, 50M Breaststroke, and the 100M Individual Medley. These additions promise to bring an extra level of excitement and challenge to the meet.

Meet Schedule

The meet will follow a structured schedule over the four days, with a variety of events planned to test the swimmers' endurance and agility.

Thursday, December 5, 2024 - Timed Finals (5:00 PM):

  • 800M Freestyle
  • 1500M Freestyle
  • 50M Backstroke
  • 50M Breaststroke
  • 50M Fly

Friday, December 6, 2024 - Preliminary Heats (8:30 AM) & Finals (5:30 PM):

  • 200M Freestyle
  • 400M Individual Medley
  • 100M Breaststroke
  • 100M Individual Medley
  • 4 x 50M Freestyle Relays

Saturday, December 7, 2024 - Preliminary Heats (8:30 AM) & Finals (5:30 PM):

  • 200M Breaststroke
  • 200M Fly
  • 400M Freestyle
  • 50M Freestyle
  • 100M Backstroke
  • 4 x 50M Medley Relays

Sunday, December 8, 2024 - Preliminary Heats (8:30 AM) & Finals (5:00 PM):

  • 200M Individual Medley
  • 100M Fly
  • 200M Backstroke

The Goldfins team is comprised of a remarkable roster of swimmers, including Farrah Aitken, Aliyah Aubut, Hassan Awadalla, Sofia Baron, Harper Bear, Violet Bi, Cori Biberdorf, Kasey Bibierdorf, Josh Block, Briana Boyko, Kai Burke, Sadie Burrows, Carsyn Busa, Emily Charabin, Kamlyn Dyck, Abigail Gauld, Zahra Gokavi Bailey, Sidney Goodwin, Miller Gotto, Gillian Grayston, Ava Gursky, Emmy Hoffmann, Olivia Hoffmann, Hadley Hollick, Dejan Jarcan, Mateo Jarcan, Ivy Kellett, Clara Lane, Monica Lin, Naomi Liu, Markel Martinez De San Vicente, Atticus Mowat, Gracie Munshaw, Benjamin Nesteroff, Lan Nguyen, Lauren Russell, Aiden Sereda-Wosminity, Phillip Shorte, Will Sothilingam, Shay Sullivan, Chasen Weber, Sienna Weber, Oliver Wruck, Sebastian Wruck and Ethan Zbytovsky all aiming to make their mark at this competitive meet. The swimmers will be guided by their dedicated coaches: Gary Cheung, Jennifer Robinson, Sean Pederson, and Ted Murphy.

Additionally, chaperones Crystal Maslin, Dwight Grayston, and Jason Wosminity will provide essential support and supervision throughout the weekend, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants.
