Goldfins Provincial Teams Continue to Grow - Norm Banfield Memorial Post Meet Report
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club journeyed to Regina, SK, to participate in the Norm Banfield Memorial from October 4 to 6, 2024. A total of 48 swimmers from the Goldfins took part in 368 individual events.
The Goldfins achieved an impressive 61 NEW Swim Saskatchewan Provincial Short Course Qualifying Time Standards. These standards encompass both Junior Provincial and Senior Provincial qualifying times. Swimmers who meet these benchmarks will qualify to compete in the Junior Provincials (February 2025) and Senior Provincials (March 2025 & July 2025).

Goldfins posted 266 personal best times at this first away meet of the season. Congratulations to Goldfins swimmers who posted 100% personal best times: Farrah Aitken, Carlin Armstrong, Sadie Burrows, Sidney Goodwin, Miller Gotto, Lan Nguyen, Everett Rempel and Oliver Wruck.

Everett Rempel 200 IM “-64.23” 23.8% Improvement
Ethan Zbytovsky 200 Freestyle “-44.43” 22.9% Improvement
Evelyn Bourassa 200 Breaststroke “-75.30” 21.2% Improvement
“Winner, winner, Chicken Dinner!” was an exhilarating intramural competition that the Goldfins relay teams took part in during this swim meet. Swimmers from various Goldfins training groups were randomly chosen to compete in the mixed relay events. Congratulations to the Goldfins ‘D’ Mixed 200M Medley Team: Aiden Sereda-Wosminity, Ethan Zbytovsky, Sidney Goodwin, and Ivy Kellett, as well as the Goldfins ‘B’ Mixed 200M Freestyle Team: Dejan Jarcan, Kamlyn Dyck, Farrah Aitken, and Cohen Veikle. These talented swimmers will receive “chicken” gift cards as a reward.
A big congratulations to all the Goldfins swimmers for their outstanding performances! The Goldfins Coaching staff extends their gratitude to the parents who volunteered as officials during this swim meet. Additionally, the Saskatoon Goldfins would like to express their appreciation to the Regina Marlins for hosting the event.
The Goldfins will return to the pool at the 48th Goldfins Invitational Swim Meet – November 1 - 3, 2024 – in Saskatoon, SK, at the Shaw Centre.
