Goldfins Make Waves at the Norm Banfield Memorial Swim Meet
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club has launched the 2026 competitive swim season with a stellar performance at the 2025 Norm Banfield Memorial Swim Meet, held from October 3 to 5 in Regina, SK. Represented by a formidable squad of 50 swimmers, the Goldfins competed in an impressive 398 individual events, setting the stage for a season filled with promise and potential.
Goldfins Coach Ted Murphy was effusive in his praise for the team's performance. “The Goldfins were on point for the first meet of the season. The swimmers were fantastic from the minute they stepped on the deck,” Murphy remarked. “Activation and team cheering were fantastic, as was the team sportsmanship. Clean deck area each session and big time drops all around. A fantastic way to kick off the season.”
Indeed, the Goldfins left a mark by posting 73 new Swim Saskatchewan Provincial Short Course Qualifying Time Standards. These accomplishments enable swimmers to compete at the Junior and Senior Provincials in February and March 2026, respectively. Anton Magsuci and Will Sothilingam have successfully qualified to participate in the Senior Provincial Championships this season.

The meet was also a showcase for personal achievements, with the Goldfins posting 292 personal best times. Special mention goes to Goldfins swimmers who posted 100% personal best times: Farrah Aitken, Aliyah Aubut, Sofia Baron, Emery Bernier, Minau Burrows, Gillian Grayston, Zoe Gursky, Charlotte Koroll, Anton Magsuci, Max Magsuci, Ella Reiter, Will Sothilingam, Naomi Wall, and Brette White.

Recognizing the teamwork and support that fuel such success, the Goldfins coaching staff extended their gratitude to the parents who volunteered to officiate, ensuring the meet ran smoothly. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks was given to the Regina Marlins Swim Club for hosting the event.
