From Dream to Reality: Goldfins Depart for the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club is delighted to announce that nine of its swimmers will participate in the 2024 Bell Canadian Olympic Trials, scheduled to take place from May 13 to 19, 2024, in Toronto, ON. This event serves as Team Canada's official qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics, set to be held from July 27 to August 4, 2024, in Paris, France. A total of 857 Canadian swimmers from 151 teams will compete in this prestigious swimming competition.
"I am excited to participate in the Canadian Swimming Trials with nine Goldfins swimmers. This is the largest group we've had since the pandemic, highlighting the dedication and effort of these athletes during every practice," shared Steven Hitchings, Head Coach of the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club.
The Goldfins team includes five high school swimmers from the age group program and four athletes from the varsity program. Throughout the season, Keiran, Abby, Bryce, Holden, and Isabel have been focused on achieving their best performance at this competition. Hitchings emphasized the depth of talent within the Goldfins team and expressed his enthusiasm for supporting them on this journey.
Moreover, Ella, Ethan, Brayden, and Blake will compete representing Goldfins. Ella is in her second season with the University of Manitoba Bisons, while Ethan and Brayden are experienced athletes from the UBC Thunderbirds. Blake Tierney continues training at the High-Performance Center in Vancouver. The Olympic Trials in Canada are a significant event in the swimming world, encompassing life-changing decisions, aspirations, and dreams. The electrifying atmosphere at the pool deck makes this experience truly exceptional, thrilling, and memorable.
