Anticipating the Goldfins' Performance at the Premier Winter Classic Swim Meet

The Saskatoon Goldfins are poised to make a splash as they head down Highway 11 to compete in the RODS Regina Winter Classic, from January 16 to 18, 2026, at the Lawson Aquatic Centre in Regina, SK. This marks the first long course swim meet of the 2026 season, featuring timed final events structured in an age group format.

Representing the Goldfins Swim Club, 71 dedicated swimmers will compete in an impressive 550 individual events. Ted Murphy, the Goldfins Age Group Coach, expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re really excited to be racing long course in January. After the break and short return to training, swimmers should be fresh and able to try new races. The coaching staff is looking for attention to stroke improvements and strong racing.”

The meet’s schedule is as follows:

  • Session 1: Friday, January 16, 2026 – Goldfins Swimmer Arrival at 4:00 PM (CHANGE OF TIME - 3:30 PM)

    • Events: 400M Individual Medley, 50M Backstroke, 200M Breaststroke, 800M Freestyle

  • Session 2: Saturday, January 17, 2026 – Goldfins Swimmer Arrival at 7:40 AM (CHANGE OF TIME - 6:40 AM)

    • Events: 200M Freestyle, 50M Breaststroke, 200M Backstroke, 100M Fly, 1500M Freestyle

  • Session 3: Saturday, January 17, 2026 – Goldfins Swimmer Arrival at 3:40 PM 

    • Events: 200M Fly, 100M Freestyle, 50M Fly, 200M Individual Medley

  • Session 4: Sunday, January 18, 2026 – Goldfins Swimmer Arrival at 7:40 AM (CHANGE OF TIME - 6:40 AM)

    • Events: 50M Freestyle, 100M Backstroke, 100M Breaststroke, 400M Freestyle
